This magellanic penguin currently lives at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I am almost positive that he was rescued when he washed up on a beach near Rio de Janeiro: exhausted, weak, and far away from home. Now he is even farther from home. And when I see him swimming back at forth against the plastic looking at me looking at him, I really regret his past….

There are a lot of things to celebrate in this world… birthdays, sunsets, sailboats, long lost friendships rediscovered, memories, love, sunshine, cheap beer, good wine, adventures, moms, dads, sisters, nieces, nephews, brothers, cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, learning new things, sleeping in sleeping bags, life, death, transitions, art, creativity, poetry, mystery novels, secret places, sandy beaches, rocky mountains, far away places, big trees, colorful flowers, long phone conversations, walks along ridges, swimming holes, little babies, whales, sea otters, bright moons, Big Dipper, Southern Cross, bike rides, coastal runs, morning coffee, sand castles, potlucks, spring, winter, summer, fall, oak trees, rose bushes, aunts, uncles, cousins, health, faith, hope, imagination, passions, dreams.
This is my Tribute to 62.
