The Drive-In

Drive In

Call me a hopeless romantic, but I absolutely love drive-in movie theaters.  I love them because you sit in your car, which just feels romantic, and you get to watch two movies, so they are economical.  What could be better and more American?  Granted, the last time I went to one was in Colorado Springs sometime around 1995 (rough estimate) and I know one of the movies was a romantic comedy with Nicolas Cage and winning the lottery with a random waitress at a diner.  And yes, that does mean it has been 14 years, and no it doesn’t seem like that long ago.  I don’t remember the name, but I am sure you know what movie I am talking about.  I also can’t help myself and wonder when we will come full circle with this one and revive them?  I will be waiting, even if I don’t have a car.

It was a sad, sad day when the drive-in in Santa Cruz closed its gates.
